History
51 series
by Same Same Design
(Quentin James)
The 51 series was born from a simple gesture . A Christmas gift for the family, developed in a FabLab , conceived, designed, and manufactured without any initial commercial ambition. Just the desire to create an organic, useful, and unique object.
The Z51 lamp marks the starting point.
Designed using Fusion 360, 3D printed, tested, corrected, optimized.
Each iteration refines the shape, the material, the thickness, the printing time.
Until a balance is found between aesthetics, use and responsible production.
This project is based on a clear conviction: a single organic form can suffice, provided it is coherent. The 51 Series doesn't multiply designs. It uses a single geometry to give it multiple functions: to illuminate, to diffuse sound, to contain, to structure a space. Each object shares the same origin , the same proportions, and the same requirement. No formal excess. No gratuitous variation.
The pieces are produced in small series , in a professional manufacturing studio, with deliberate technical choices.
Material optimization, waste reduction, controlled manufacturing time. Some versions prioritize robustness, others economy or printing speed. Everything is transparent
The 51 series lies at the intersection of design, art, and home technology.
Instantly identifiable objects, designed to last, far removed from fast-paced, disposable cycles. This project is intentionally independent. It evolves slowly, out of necessity, high standards, and conviction.
